Development in historic centre

About the Project

The redevelopment of the streets Quart and Bolsería was a unique opportunity to create, with simple and modest materials, some urban unit in the vicinity of one of the most important entrances and exits of the historical center of Valencia. These two streets are the connection between the central market and the Quart Towers, one of the two defensive towers of the medieval city that have been preserved. It is one of the busiest commercial streets in this part of the historic center, with high character and much nightlife and traffic during the day.

All urban facilities (gas, water, electricity, telephone and sewage) were renewed. The roadway is a paved with stone blocks on a concrete base to withstand heavy traffic. Sidewalks have been extended and physically separated from traffic to avoid the problem of their use as temporary parking and to provide more pedestrian safety in the city.
